The laboratory conducts research on advanced laser detection technologies, promotes the transformation of these technological achievements, and develops relevant detection instruments and equipment to address the major needs of the country.


By advancing a variety of high-sensitivity and high-resolution laser spectroscopy technologies, the laboratory achieves the detection and research on the composition of gaseous and solid substances. Meanwhile, it develops related prototype machines and establishes an industry-academia-research integrated innovation model in cooperation with high-tech enterprises. Currently, this platform focuses on three research directions, mainly including solid substance analysis based on Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS), gaseous substance analysis based on laser absorption spectroscopy, and gaseous substance analysis based on photoacoustic spectroscopy.


At present, the laboratory undertakes projects supported by funding sources such as the National Key Research and Development Program of China, the Excellent Young Scientists Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the Special Fund for Instrument Development of NSFC, the National High-Tech Research and Development Program of China (863 Program), the General Program/Youth Science Fund Project of NSFC, as well as the Natural Science Foundation/Youth Science Fund Project of Shanxi Province. It has also established industry-academia-research cooperation platforms with enterprises including Shanxi Zhonglv Environmental Protection Group Co., Ltd. and Taiyuan Haitong Automation Technology Co., Ltd.
